Founding the project
It all began one December night in 2023 when the idea to establish the Hemisphere Project sparked within us after witnessing news about the massive plastic pollution in Indonesia and the environmental damage it inflicted upon our beloved Earth and its inhabitants.
Through discussions and team formation meetings, the Hemisphere Project, a non-profit social organisation literally meaning "guardians of the Earth's hemisphere," was born. We realised the profound impact of plastic pollution, transforming our world from a miracle into a disaster, necessitating action, particularly from the youth, to raise awareness and care for this global issue.

Putting in our goals
Aligned with the goals of achieving Net Zero by 2030, Indonesia Emas by 2045, and accelerating the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), we focus on responsible production and consumption and the preservation of life below water. Starting with 18 high school students from Pradita Dirgantara High School, the Hemisphere Project has gradually expanded its reach from local to national and international levels.

Looking forward
We are proud recipients of the Global Youth Action Fund Awardee 2024, awarded to projects with significant impact and a commitment to transforming their communities. Thanks to the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) for their funding support, we are now able to operate more expansively, massively, and adaptively. We welcome any collaboration opportunities. With a spirit of continuous improvement, the Hemisphere Project team is committed to expanding our efforts to address plastic pollution in Indonesia.
